Tribute to our Grandfather, Poppy Nicky

Tribute to our Grandfather, Poppy Nicky

Hi everyone. I don't have a big investing update this month. It's definitely not from a lack of things to write about - The Capitol riot, Biden taking over, the ongoing Gamestop stock fiasco. Truthfully, I have been dreading writing this month's newsletter. The origin of this newsletter was yet another brilliant idea and gift from Poppy and Grandma Sarah to all of us. It won't feel the same without Poppy excitedly passing me stock picks and other topics each month. I think I enjoyed writing these emails and having Poppy read them as much as he enjoyed discussing stocks with me. I still have plenty of his investing wisdom to share with all of you, so I'll continue to do that. For now, I'd like to leave you with a paraphrased quote that Poppy told me in 2013-2014. I have it written down right next to investing quotes from people like Warren Buffet, Peter Lynch, and Benjamin Graham. The quote is:

When you know a huge company such as Apple is going to sell a ton of something, look for smaller companies (such as accessory makers) to profit. Their stocks will have much bigger gains.
-- Nicholas Perrone

Miss you, Poppy.

Trades

  • Milena bought $1000 worth of QuantumScape (QS), but she still needs to update the google sheet detail tab with her trade info. Both Lindsay and her went all-in on the battery tech company.
  • Brenna is still sitting on her $1000 in cash.

Please remember to update the google sheet detail tab when you buy/sell something. I look at the revision history each month so I can include your trade in this newsletter. The summary tab is at the bottom of this email as a picture and the live link to it is here.
